3 years ago, I came to New Zealand from Italy with a passion: working in the specialty cheese industry and contributing to enrich the market with new, convenient and high standard products.
Spanning from large corporates like Goodman Fielder to small artisan cheese boutiques alike, I have covered roles and managed projects from cheese making, procurement, supply chain, sales and marketing, export and executive management for brands like Kaimai cheese, Puhoi valley cheese, The Grate kiwi cheese Company, New Zealand dairy Food, Ghiotti, European Foods, Whitestone cheese, Massimo’s Italian cheeses, The Collective dairy and Joy Ice cream.
I understand the specialty cheese, ice-cream and yoghurt manufacturing challenges from the paddock to the consumer table.
In recent years my focus has been on consumer education and industry support as a contributor and editor of lifestyle magazines like Mindfood and Inseason, hosting masterclasses and frequently travelling overseas to participate as a judge to international cheese competitions.
My Name is Franco Sessa, I am the Owner and Director of The Grand Gourmand Limited, proudly supporting the NZSCA (New Zealand Specialty Cheese Association) for the past 15 years. as a cheese judge, board member and professional member.
The Grand Gourmand LTD is the only New Zealand accredited trainer provider for the Academy of cheese ( UK).
